Oquirrh Mountain Temple Dedication

Susie and I were blessed to attend the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Dedication today at our Stake Center.

The First Presidency had all the wards in Utah not have any sacrament services or any classes today so we could attend the dedication services.

Susie and I were found worthy to attend and we received our tickets a few weeks ago.

I was extremely excited as this is the first temple dedication I attended since joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints May 11, 1996.

I could feel the spirit from the moment I walked in the door of the chapel. The prelude music was spiritual and nice to listen to. While the music was playing they showed a video of the temple. They showed the rooms, the outside, a picture of the Angle Moroni on the top of the temple. All my fellow brothers and sisters sat reverently watching and listening. Some read scriptures, others prayed, some explained to their children what a blessing it was to attend. I wish Michal was old enough to attend. I would of explained to him how important the temple is and how we should attend on a regular basis.

Then it was time, we all stood as our beloved Prophet Thomas S. Monson came into the room of the temple. The spirit testified to me just how special he is. That he truly is a prophet of God. That he holds the keys and is called of God to lead and guide us. What a wonderful man he is.

The choir sang a few hymms. Their uplifted voices brought tears to my eyes. I was filled with all sorts of emotions. Then the speakers began. The messages varried, some telling us the importance of the ordinaces we partake of in the temples, others giving instruction to the youth. Giving them hope and a path to work their way first to do baptisms for the dead then taking out their own endowments, then marrying in the Temple.

Then the prophet stood and gave a few remarks then we bowed our heads in united prayer as he gave the dedicatory prayer. In the prayer President Monson asked for blessings upon those who helped build the temple, he asked for the guidence to first presedency of the church, the quorem of the 12 and the 70 and also the presiding bishopric, the local stake presedency and bishops and other church leadership, He asked blessings for the mission presidents all over the world as well as the missionaries that are doing the Lords work. He then dedicated the temple for baptisms and sealings, endowments and ordinances both for the living and the dead. He dedicated the grounds the temple sat on including the flowers, trees and shrubs, he asked for protection of the temple and grounds that now one will defile it. He then closed in the saviors name Jesus Christ.
Of cource he had more in his prayer but at this time of my writings my mind has not released those to me.

I gave a readers digest version of what happened today 23 August 2009. I know there were other things. What I have written is just but a short happening. I am sure there will be other naratives that are more exact.

I would like to close by bearing my testimony that I know that the temples are the house of the Lord. I know that the covenants made in the temple are between you and Heavenly Father. I know that by searching out our family hearatages then bringing those names and providing the sacred ordinances are what our Heavenly Father would want us to do. I know that we can all be an eternal family if we live the laws and choose to abide by the coventants in the temple. I know that attending the temple is a sacred privlage not a right. I know that we all can receive so many blessings from temple attendence. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Christ. I know that President Monson is a true prophet called of God in these latter days. I know he is inspired and will lead us and give loving guidence. I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith was a true prophet and was called to bring forth the church in this dispensation. I testify to you and leave these words to you in the sacred name of Jesus Christ amen.
